Why Would I Want My Piano to Go On the Web?

You’ve likely come to the Classic Pianos Web site looking for information about pianos or digital pianos.

The Internet has changed everything—even pianos aren’t immune. There are now hybrid acoustic and digital pianos that can access the World Wide Web directly; hence our category titled ”Internet Ready.”

Imagine having your player piano perform live classical or jazz pieces from an “Internet radio” stream while you relax after a long work day. Or, take a finger exercise lesson directly from the Internet on your digital piano.

You can download favorite songs, check for updates, styles, and thousands of MIDI files directly through your piano—without using an additional computer.

Yamaha enables you to access this online musical world with many of their Disklavier and Clavinova pianos utilizing a Web-based service called Internet Direct Connection (IDC).

The IDC website is displayed through the information screen of your piano and is controlled by buttons already built into your instrument. You can subscribe to the Internet Radio service for as little as $19.95 per month or $199.95 a year. There are 11 discreet genre-specific channels that cover everything from classical, jazz, Broadway, country, rock, pop, and many more. There is even a holiday channel that plays seasonal favorites.
